korsakow project
year: 2016

made in response to a call out by sue ball for digital works that considered the space in the silk mill and the decant of the collections of the derby silk mill museum. The non-linear format aligns itself to the idea of co-production and its process.
during november of 2016 i repeatedly visited the museum building to film both in the public accessed spaces and the parts of the building that were stores or offices. the collections team were in the process of packing up the collections in readiness to clear the building ahead of the renovation and building work that would bring the whole building into use as one cohesive museum.
there would be two more periods of filming, one in the summer of 2017 and then 2019 through to just before the opening in may 2021. a final version of the korsakow project is installed in the museum for visitors to engage with.
At the time of producing the first trance, the non linear format had recently gone through an update to enable mobile devices to play the films.
during the month of november 2016, arts and heritage producer sue ball worked with artists to stage a variety of performances and events to test the possibility for the emerging spaces in the museum. there was a sound tour, a dinner based event and a hosted maker games event.
